GOOD News!!!!!

It was a busy fun Friday, September 25th! I was still on the phone when Milan arrived home from school. Just a quick hug and kisses as our daily greetings, I then continued my phone conversation before we had to take off for the softball game.

In the car, Milan said, "Mommy, I have a good news for you!" "What is it, sweetheart?" I asked. Milan told me that she was chosen, with a few other friends (total of 6), to receive this special envelop for participating in the CTY Academic Talent Search program. Handling the package to me, Milan had a beautiful smile on her face. "Mommy, I screamed (in my head) that WOW I'm getting a scholarship!"

I looked up on the package and read....

Dear Parent of Guardian:

We are pleased to inform you that your child is eligible to participate in the 2009-2010 CTY Talent Search, sponsored by the John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (www.cty.jhu.edu). The purpose of the Talent Search is to identify, assess, and recognize the academic abilities of highly able students.

To qualify for the Talent Search, a student must score in the 95th percentile or higher on a reasoning section of a nationally-normed test or have state test results categorized at the highest levels of performance (such as advanced, distinguished, exceeds, or honors).

Before I realized, tears were already in my eyes.... "Mommy is very proud of you, sweetheart." I heard my voice said so. Daddy got into the car and Milan said, "Daddy, Mommy is crying."

It is my great pleasure to be assured and reassured of how intelligent our daughter is. It is my pride as a parent of a gifted child. Vinnie is right as he always says, some day someone will discover Milan's intelligence.
